Stop Illegal Fish Theft Petition

$

Neil Cash from the Pikers Pit blog has asked us to post details about his petition.

In his words,

"I'm asking for your support to get DEFRA to take greater action to prevent the Illegal theft of fish from waters, particularly but not confined to the Fenland/East Anglia regions. For some time now organised gangs have used all manner of illegal methods to target native fish stocks, including the use of set lines, trawl nets and other such illegal boating activities. The ecological balance of many fenland waters have already been critically damaged, this is also having a financial effect on those whose livelyhoods depends on the tourist & sport fishing trades. The laws to prevent such actions are already in place, they just need stronger policing & heavier penalties on conviction. Please support this petition, before our waters are ruined forever. Thank You."

Dave will talk us through his early years on Frisby, and onto his Fenland fishing with a few more exotic locations through in, finishing with his current fishing in the west of the country following a house move. Though Dave didn't know it at the time he was a real influence on my own Fenland Zander fishing and its a real coup for the region that we have been able to entice him to do his first talk for us. I hope that we get a great turnout for what promises to be a great evening.

Mike Green Wednesday December 2nd 2015

On Wednesday December 2nd  We welcome Mike Green to  Cambridge PAC

For those that missed the convention Mike has caught specimen fish of many species of fish in the uk. As far as predators go Perch to 4lb 8oz, Pike to 40lb 8oz, and Zander to 16lb 14oz show he has a track record to be envied.
He is no slouch when it comes to non predatory species either as his specimen roach, rudd, chub, bream and carp and catfish captures testify, not to mention salmon trout and grayling. He has even had a top notch Eel on a drop shot! And I won’t go into the sea fish.
Mike has travelled to the Bahamas, Africa, America, South America, Cuba, Canada, Mexico, locations many of us can only dream of and caught specimen fish from them all, Tarpon, Sharks, Bonefish, Nile perch, I could go on and on.
Many of these captures being caught his first passion the fly, though he loves lure fishing too and has very successfully bait fished too when the occasion demands it.
I am certain that Mike will present a most excellent talk but due to time constraints will not be able to tell us all of his impressive adventures over the course of the evening.  He will however have on sale some copies of his recent book ‘Angling escapades’ on the evening, I highly recommend it. If it doesn’t get you dreaming of, and even scheming about fishing holidays in far flung lands nothing will. A captivating read.
I am delighted that Mike will be visiting us, it’s an evening not to be missed.
The British Legion, 31 Downing Close, Bottisham, Cambs, CB25 9DD £4 entry with a free raffle ticket, arrive at 19.30 for a 20.00 start.
